Leh and Liker Monastery festival date 19th -20th Feb 2012
Trekking on Frozen river of Zanskar is an ultimate experience for adventure lover. Chadar trek" of frozen river which was only way in and out for Zanskaris in winter when all other ways are closed due to heavy snow fall at high passes for 7months.
This is a trek into some of the most isolated yet inhabited regions in the Zanskar Mountains, most notably the village of Lingshet. Trekking on ice, is the frozen Zanskar River, we average five to seven hours daily at an easy pace but a reasonable degree of physical fitness is needed to sustain walking for nine days during winter conditions.
The trek commences from the village of Chiling located not far from the confluence of Indus and the Zanskar River. The trek follows the river gorge through a spectacular landscape, a photographer’s paradise, offering occasional sighting of wildlife. Although pleasant on clear, sunny days, the weather conditions can change abruptly, with wind temperatures known to plummet minus 20 to 30 degrees Celsius. Chiling and Lingshed are the only sizeable villages on this trek, all the rest are names of places and caves along the route.
Day 01- Arrival India Midnight at International air port 12.00. Indian time after one hrs transfer to domestic air port three hrs at the domestic air port.
Day 02,fly Delhi to Leh 6: 15 am arrival at Leh air port 7:15 am transfer to Hotel or guest house full day acclimatization
Day 03- Witness monastery festival at Leh just below the Kings palace of old Leh
During this day all the Monk perform sacred mask dances and the local people are also coming all over the village of Ladakh for participating the festival at mane city Leh. The people of Ladakhi enjoying festival as will as shopping and meeting with their relatives and friend during this winter time most of villager have great entertainment and enjoying the time is monastery festival. The man, women and children are with traditional dress with wring jewelers the women wring phy-raks which is very important for the customs for women, made from Turquoise, Gold, Silver, other perishes stones.
Day 04, Witness the festival.
After breakfast drive to Liker witness the liker monastery festival, perform mask dance by monks , after lunch drive to Alchi visit Alchi monastery O/N Guest house.
Day 05, Alchi to Chiling
After breakfast drive 1hrs to Mangu village visit a small monastery same as alchi built at the same time more then 1000 years ago, after lunch drive 2hrs to Chiling O/N local house homesaty.
Day 06, Chiling to Tilrat do 5,6hrs
After breakfast strate trek with porter to tilat do camp on the frozen river side
Day 07, Trek Tilat do to deep yokma camp. 6,7hrs
Day 08, Deep kma to Nyraks pulu camp. 6,7hrs
Day 09, Nyraks Pulu to Lingshat do camp 6,7hrs
Day 10,Lingshat do to Lingchat village O/N local house. 6,7hrs
Day 11, Excursion monastery and village O/N local house
Day 12, ,Lingshat to Nyraks pulu camp
Day 13, Nyraks pulu to Tsomo camp
Day 14, Tsomo to Tilat do Camp
Day15,Tilat do to Chiling and drive to Leh O/N Hotel
Day 16,Excursion Monastery festival of Stok monastery witness Oracle mask Dance after drive back Leh O/N Hotel
Day 17, transfer to air port and fly to Delhi transfer to Hotel at Delhi after refreshing visit old Delhi sightseeing Red fort, Jama Masjit, India Gate, Humayaun , Tomb, Kotub Minar,evening after Dinner transfer to International Airport and fly.
