The Buddhism faith was first introduced into Ladakh during the reign of Asoka, up wards of 2000 years ago, when that great follower of Buddha was propagating his new religion with all the zealous ardor of a proselyte.
In the 241 BC. At the close of the third synod, numerous missionary teachers were dispatched to all the surrounding countries to spread the peaceful doctrines of Buddha Shakya Muni.
